- No significant security issues occurred in September though Joe Steiner did thank an alert homeowner who noticed a door open for a long time at a neighbor’s house.
- The formal water aerobics sessions are ending this week but a number of the attendees will continue informally.
- The tennis courts have a new score keeping mechanism.
- Creation of the homeowner directory is in progress. It will eventually be available via the web. Homeowners have been contacted via an email to provide information for the directory which is opt in only (only those who return information will be included in the directory). Homeowners can choose how much information to include (e.g. only phone number, only email, or both). Two versions of the directory will be made available — by name and by address.
- Several areas on Velazquez had the landscape refreshed (north most mailbox area, center mailbox area, and center parking lot area). Additional refreshes of small common areas will be done over the next 2 months.
- Treasurer Larry Spencer reported operating expenses are still running approximately 16% below budget. He reported that every homeowner has paid their second half dues. He noted that to date, utilities have consumed approximately 29% of the budget, landscaping has consumed 23% of the budget and trash has consumed 21% of the budget.
- Finance committee proposed and the Board approved a guideline for approving expenditures (what level of approval is needed for various types of expense). This guideline included requiring rebidding evergreen contracts periodically.
- The Roads Committee will be seeking bids for crack sealing (to be targeted for December) and paving of Paseo Otono and a portion of Sempreverde (to be done in the Spring).
- A Nominating Committee was formed to seek candidates for 2 board positions. Committee is chaired by Kathy Mitton and committee members are Joe Steiner, Larry Spencer and Steve Struck.
