We are starting something new and that is posting some highlights of key discussions or motions shortly after a board meeting. Because it takes a month for the meeting minutes to be approved and then posted, this will provide a means to more rapidly disperse information about interesting items from the monthly board meeting. These highlights will not cover the full content of the board meeting and the official meeting minutes will still be provided after they have been approved.

Some key decisions that came out of May’s board meeting:

  • A motion was made and approved to update the HOA policy for alcohol. Once the policy is updated and approved, we will allow residents to bring alcohol to HOA sponsored events (e.g. potluck). Additionally residents who reserve the clubhouse for an event will be allowed to bring alcohol to that event. Stay tuned for the updated policy.
  • A motion was made and approved to allow for the expenditure to repair sidewalks where they have heaved and buckled. A vendor is being selected and the work will commence in the next few weeks.
  • A motion was made and approved to allow hiring of a consulting firm to assist with the road work. The roads committee has met with several asphalt companies and several consultants. The roads committee has also driven roads that were replaced, poly chip sealed, and sealed with a “green technology” to help see first hand the options available to us. To move forward, the roads committee feels a professional company can best help us evaluate the options and select the appropriate technology for our roads.
  • A discussion was held over removing the phones that are at each pool and which are rarely (never?) used. It was suggested we seek input from the community before removing the phones.
  • A concern was brought up about the slipperiness of the cement under the Ramada. Rather than spend HOA money, board member Larry Spencer volunteered to power wash the problem area (thanks Larry!).
  • As reported by our treasurer, Larry Spencer, we are currently running under budget from an operational expense perspective.
  • Dues notices for the second half of the year will go out by the end of May and will be due July 1st.

Board meetings will not be held throughout the summer. Stay tuned for the next board meeting in September!
