The Board meets on the third Monday of every month at 3:30 PM in the clubhouse. All homeowners are welcome to attend. Below are some highlights from the March Board meeting:

Money

  • Treasurer, Tom Kelley, is in the process of switching accounts from Chase Bank to Washington Federal (WAFD). This is because Chase made a mistake coding the HOA’s accounts years ago and – even though the error is the bank’s – fixing it would require the HOA to open new accounts that won’t have the grandfathered cost structure of the existing accounts. Given the complexity of opening all new accounts the Board decided to take this opportunity to move to a bank that will be slightly easier to deal with while also maintaining a good cost structure on accounts.
  • Four homes are for sale in SMVE (which has 238 homes) and 3 homes have been sold this year.

Committee Updates

  • Neighborhood Watch – Phil Mowbray reported on the successful conclusion of the annual Neighborhood Watch Meeting. He is in the process of thanking the Sheriffs and Rural Metro participants. He noted an annual meeting is required to maintain our Neighborhood Watch status.
  • Maintenance Committee – Steve Struck reported that new and more weatherproof bulletin boards have been installed at both pools. These are necessary to post required documents.
  • Architecture Committee – Bill Coan reported that 50 garage doors were painted during the recent garage door test. He noted that at least 20 doors still need to be painted due to fading or staining. Those homeowners will be notified in April that they need to address the issue.
  • Bill reported that many homeowners have had trouble getting the Dunn and Edwards discount (which is 35% off the full retail price). The Approved Paint Color page has been updated to explain how to obtain that discount.
  • Bill has updated the Architecture page on SMVE.org. In the near future you’ll also find easier-to-read forms.
